Fred Tischler/John Erickson Memorial Scholarship Fund

In November of 2016, Chapter 124 lost one of its most talented and ardent supporters – Fred Tischler. Fred was a teacher, a volunteer, a board member – always willing to share his time and knowledge to advance Chapter 124 and the NAWCC.

An initial memorial gift from James, Phyllis and Justin Barren became the seed for establishing a Scholarship Fund in Fred’s memory. The Board of Directors voted to officially create the “Fred Tischler Memorial Scholarship Fund.”

In 2020, Chapter 124 lost another strong advocate for education – John Erickson. His daughters, Liz Erickson and Kristine Erickson Baker, asked that donations in his memory be made to the Scholarship Fund. The Board of Directors felt it appropriate to add John Erickson’s name to the fund.

The purpose of the fund shall be to provide educational scholarships to Chapter 124 members. The educational activity must focus on some aspect of horology. Consideration will be given to the potential for the recipient to give back in some way (volunteer, teach, etc.) to the Chapter.

To be fully-functioning, the committee set a goal of $10,000 to be available for granting. We are pleased to report that we have exceeded this goal. However, the fund will need to be replenished each year as scholarships are disbursed.
